artist statement

“Dreams and reality are opposites. Action synthesizes them"

through years of making and dreaming, i have found that reality is malleable through thoughtful, determined action + wild, instinctual shifts.  i aim to get lost in unreal places that still hold the weight of gravity i’m familiar with, to find places that have one foot in fantasy and the other on earth. reality is personal. i am both as honest and dishonest as I can be when the work calls for it. i am interested in:

disappearing + melting + transforming + amalgamating + ghosting + spreading + 

​

movement and writing are both essential in this; for me there are no real lines between them. fluidity attracts me and i attempt to generate it where i can. i seek out:

flow between concepts + flow in movement + flow between people

​

intersectionality naturally conjures this. my personal history is inseparable from what i make despite any trying or lack of trying on my part. i am interested in dissecting myself and creating an environment where others can do the same. i am still trying to find all of the people that i am. i reach out to gather myself(s) back in. music and literature are always informing me in this way. i intake a lot, consume a lot, but i like to think that i expel just as much. i hope i do; i hope to eventually know that i do.
